Reading
In reading this week we've begun our nonfiction reading unit on research. Students have begun working in groups to research an animal. In this unit students are reading multiple texts at different levels on the same topic. They will be working to look across texts to gather information about their topics.
In student's homework this week, they will be working to continue their research from class each night.
Writing
In writing, we will be extending the work we did in our last reading unit about understanding story elements and how stories usually go. Students will be learning about to write adaptations of fairy tales by analyzing the structure of existing stories before making their own changes.
Math
In math this week we have continued our work exploring equivalent fractions and understanding their relationships.
Integrated Studies
In Integrated Studies we have started learning about the different regions of North Carolina. Students will be studying each of the major regions of our state and how where people live affects their day to day lives.
