Reading Unit One: Realistic Fiction

Objectives covered this first week:

Students will be checking out a Just Right Book in the genre of realistic fiction. We will use their running record level from the end of 4th grade as a baseline!

Students will set reading goals for themselves which could include: reading longer, staying more focused, stopping when confused, reading with the t.v. off, sticking with a series, ect.

Students will begin to take a closer look at characters and their complexity. Students will be responsible for identifying multiple traits that represent their characters. Students will be responsible for citing text evidence to support their findings.
